All tools share one brand kit (logo, colors, fonts), one login, and one dashboard with simple analytics. Public pages live on short paths (/s short links, /p bio, /f forms, /w waitlists, /r reviews, /b bookings, /m media kits, /l lead magnets, /a referrals, /i invoices, /c client portals). ## Product FAQ Q: What is Lessstack? A: An all-in-one online toolbox for solo operators, creators and small businesses: short links, QR codes, link-in-bio, forms, waitlists, review requests, booking pages, brand and media kits, lead magnets, referrals, contacts, newsletters, invoices, client portals, an AI post composer, a post planner, a reply queue, phone mockups and overview analytics. If you need commerce inside the bio page or a custom domain, Linktree's paid plans go further. Q: Can it replace Bitly? A: For small-business volumes of editable short links, UTM tagging and dynamic QR codes, yes. For enterprise link management or your own short domain, stay with Bitly. Q: Can it replace Calendly? A: No. Lessstack links to your scheduler; it doesn't manage availability. Q: Can it replace Typeform or Tally? A: For contact, order and signup forms, yes. For logic-heavy surveys, no. Q: Can it replace Mailchimp? A: For occasional updates to a small list, maybe. For automations and segmentation, no. Q: Can it replace Buffer? A: Only if you're happy to publish manually. Lessstack doesn't auto-publish yet. Q: Can I export my data? A: Yes. Form responses, waitlist signups, lead-magnet emails and Contacts all export to CSV. Q: Can I use my own domain? A: Not yet. A: No. Due posts are marked ready to copy. Q: Does the reply queue read my DMs? A: No. It's manual. Q: Does the AI post writer always use AI? A: Yes, unless the AI is unavailable; then it uses ready-made templates. Q: Can clients pay invoices by card? A: Yes, through Stripe Checkout, or you can share payment instructions instead. Q: Is there a team plan or API? A: Not today. Q: Is the client portal private? A: It's an unlisted link. Who it's for: - Shops and creators sharing links on social, print, and email - Small businesses who want to change a destination without reprinting or reposting - Anyone tired of paying for a standalone link shortener How it works: 1. Paste the destination URL and pick a custom slug. 2. Optionally add UTM tags so analytics tools can attribute the traffic. 3. Share the short link and watch clicks in the dashboard; edit the destination whenever you need. FAQ: Q: Can I change where a short link points after I share it? A: Yes. The slug stays the same and you can edit the destination in the dashboard at any time. Q: Does Lessstack count clicks? A: Yes. Each short link records a click count you can see in the dashboard. Q: Can I add UTM parameters? A: Yes. The built-in UTM builder appends utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, and utm_term to the destination on redirect. ### UTM builder URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/utm-builder Category: Links & presence Use the free UTM builder below to tag any URL with utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content and utm_term, with no account needed. In the Lessstack dashboard the same builder is attached to your short links, and the redirect adds the tags to the destination. One clean link carries the full campaign attribution. Who it's for: - Small businesses running Instagram, newsletter, or flyer campaigns - Marketers who want consistent UTM naming without a spreadsheet - Anyone who uses Google Analytics or a similar tool to measure traffic How it works: 1. Create or open a short link in the dashboard. 2. Fill in the UTM fields you need — source, medium, campaign, and optionally content and term. 3. Share the short link; visitors land on the destination with the UTM tags appended. #### What each UTM parameter is for UTM parameters are tags on the end of a URL. Google Analytics 4, Matomo, Plausible and most other analytics tools read them to tell you where a visit came from. - utm_source: who sent the visit (instagram, newsletter, google, flyer). - utm_medium: the type of channel (social, email, cpc, print, qr). - utm_campaign: the promotion or reason (spring-sale, launch, black-friday). - utm_content: optional, tells apart two links in the same post or email (header-button, footer-link). - utm_term: optional, mostly for paid search keywords. #### UTM examples you can copy - Instagram bio: utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=bio - Newsletter: utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=october-update - Flyer QR code: utm_source=flyer&utm_medium=qr&utm_campaign=summer-market - Partner shout-out: utm_source=partner-name&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=launch #### Naming rules that keep reports clean Analytics tools treat every spelling as a separate value. "Instagram", "instagram" and "IG" end up as three sources. Write your allowed values down once and stick to them: lowercase, hyphens instead of spaces, no dates in the source. In Google Analytics 4, the medium decides the default channel. email goes to Email, and social, social-network, social-media or sm go to Organic Social. A value GA4 doesn't recognise, such as print or qr, shows as Unassigned. That's fine if you know to look for it, or you can add a custom channel group. #### UTM builder vs. UTM tags on a short link A plain UTM builder gives you a long URL. That works in an email button but looks messy in an Instagram caption and is hard to fit on a printed flyer. In Lessstack the tags live on a short link instead. People see lessstack.com/s/spring, the redirect adds the tags, and you can fix a typo in a tag after you've shared the link. FAQ: Q: What are UTM parameters? A: UTM parameters are query-string tags such as utm_source and utm_campaign that analytics tools read to tell you which campaign sent a visit. Q: Will the UTM tags show in my short link? A: No. The short link stays clean; the tags are added to the destination URL when the visitor is redirected. Q: Do I need a separate UTM tool? A: No. The builder is part of every Lessstack short link. Q: Is this UTM builder free? A: Yes. The builder on this page is free and needs no account; the URL is built in your browser. Saving tagged short links with click counts needs a free Lessstack account. Q: Which UTM parameters are required? A: None are technically required, but Google Analytics expects utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign together. utm_content and utm_term are optional. ### QR code generator URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/qr-code-generator Category: Links & presence Make a free static QR code below in seconds, with no signup. When the page behind the code might change, use a Lessstack dynamic QR code. It points to one of your short links, so you can change where it goes after printing and see how often it's scanned in the link's click count. Who it's for: - Restaurants and cafés with printed menus or table cards - Retailers adding codes to packaging, receipts, or posters - Event organisers who need a code that can change after printing How it works: 1. Create a short link for the page you want people to reach. 2. Generate the QR code for that link and download it for print. 3. Update the short link's destination whenever the target page changes — the printed code keeps working. #### Static vs. dynamic QR codes A static QR code stores the final URL in the pattern itself. It never expires and needs no service behind it, but if the page moves, the printed code is wrong. A dynamic QR code stores a short link that redirects to your page. You change the redirect, not the print, and each scan passes through the link, so you can count them. The trade-off: the code depends on the short-link service staying up. - Pick static for Wi-Fi details, a vCard, or a page that will never move. - Pick dynamic for menus, specials, event pages, review requests and packaging, or anything printed in bulk. #### How to create a dynamic QR code - Sign up free and create a short link to the page you want people to reach. - Add UTM tags (for example utm_source=flyer&utm_medium=qr) so the scans show up in your analytics. - Open QR codes in the dashboard, pick the link, and download the PNG. - Print a proof and scan it with two different phones. - When the page changes, edit the short link's destination. The printed code keeps working. #### Ideas for dynamic QR codes - Restaurant table cards that switch between lunch and dinner menus - Receipts that link to a review request or a loyalty sign-up - Product packaging that links to setup guides you can update - Event posters that point to tickets first, then to photos afterwards - Business cards that link to your bio page #### Printing tips Print at least 2 × 2 cm (about 0.8 in) for close-up scanning, larger for posters. A good rule is one tenth of the scanning distance. Keep a blank margin around the code, use dark modules on a light background, and add a short call to action such as "Scan for today's menu". FAQ: Q: What is a dynamic QR code? A: A dynamic QR code encodes a short link instead of the final URL, so the destination can be changed later without changing the printed code. Q: Can I track scans? A: Scans go through the short link, so they show up in that link's click count. Q: Do codes stop working if I edit the destination? A: No. The code points at the short link, which keeps the same slug. Q: Is the QR code generator free? A: Yes. The static generator on this page is free with no signup and downloads PNG or SVG. Dynamic codes are included in the Free Lessstack plan; dashboard downloads are PNG. Q: Do QR codes expire? A: A static QR code never expires because the link is stored in the pattern. A dynamic code works as long as its short link exists, so check what a vendor does with your links if you stop paying before you print in bulk. ### Link-in-bio URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/link-in-bio Category: Links & presence A Lessstack link-in-bio page is a single public /p page that lists your most important links with your brand kit's logo, colors, and fonts — managed in the same workspace as your short links, QR codes, and forms. Who it's for: - Creators and shops that link out from Instagram, TikTok, or X - Freelancers who want one page for portfolio, booking, and contact - Businesses replacing a standalone link-in-bio subscription How it works: 1. Create a bio page and choose its public slug. 2. Add links — products, booking page, waitlist, or anything else — and reorder them. 3. Put the /p link in your social profiles; your brand kit styles it automatically. FAQ: Q: Does the bio page use my branding? A: Yes. Brand kit colors, fonts, and logo are applied as defaults. Q: Can I link to other Lessstack pages? A: Yes. Bio pages often link to a booking page, waitlist, review page, or lead magnet in the same workspace. Q: Is it a separate subscription? A: No. Link-in-bio is included with the rest of the Lessstack toolbox. ### Forms URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/forms Category: Links & presence Lessstack forms are lightweight public /f pages for contact requests, orders, or sign-ups; every response is saved in the dashboard and can be exported to CSV. Who it's for: - Small businesses collecting enquiries or orders - Creators running simple surveys or applications - Anyone who needs a form but not a full form-builder subscription How it works: 1. Create a form and add the fields you need. 2. Share the /f link, or link it from your bio page or a QR code. 3. Read responses in the dashboard and export them to CSV. FAQ: Q: Can I export responses? A: Yes. Responses can be exported to CSV from the dashboard. Q: Is it as powerful as a dedicated form builder? A: No. Lessstack forms are intentionally simple — good for contact, order, and sign-up forms rather than complex logic-heavy surveys. Q: Can I put a form behind a QR code? A: Yes. Create a short link to the form and generate a QR code for it. ### Waitlist page URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/waitlist Category: Capture & reputation A Lessstack waitlist is a public /w signup page that collects email addresses before a launch, stores each signup in your dashboard, and exports the list to CSV. Who it's for: - Founders validating a product before launch - Shops announcing a new collection or drop - Creators opening a course, cohort, or service How it works: 1. Create a waitlist with a headline and short description. 2. Share the /w link on social, in your bio page, or behind a QR code. 3. Watch signups arrive, then export them or use Contacts for your launch email. FAQ: Q: Where do signups go? A: Signups are stored in your dashboard and also appear in the deduped Contacts list. Q: Can I export the list? A: Yes, to CSV. Q: Does it use my branding? A: Yes. Brand kit defaults are applied to waitlist pages. ### Review requests URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/review-requests Category: Capture & reputation A Lessstack review-request page is a public /r page that asks happy customers for a review and sends them straight to your Google, Trustpilot, or other review destination, counting each click. Who it's for: - Local businesses that rely on Google reviews - E-commerce shops collecting Trustpilot reviews - Service providers who ask for reviews after a job How it works: 1. Create a review page and add your review destination links. 2. Share the /r link by message, email, receipt, or QR code. 3. Track clicks per destination in the dashboard. FAQ: Q: Which review sites are supported? A: Any review URL. Google and Trustpilot have dedicated buttons; you can add a custom destination too. Q: Does Lessstack post reviews for me? A: No. It sends customers to the review site, where they write the review themselves. Q: Can I use a QR code for reviews? A: Yes. Create a short link to the review page and print its QR code. ### Booking page URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/booking-page Category: Capture & reputation A Lessstack booking page is a branded public /b page that deep-links to wherever you actually take bookings — Cal.com, Calendly, WhatsApp, or any other URL — so customers have one link to remember. Who it's for: - Consultants, coaches, and freelancers who already use a scheduler - Salons, studios, and clinics that book over WhatsApp - Businesses that want one booking link across several channels How it works: 1. Create a booking page and add your booking destinations. 2. Share the /b link or add it to your bio page. 3. Customers pick a destination and book in the tool you already use. FAQ: Q: Is this a calendar or scheduling tool? A: No. Lessstack does not manage availability; it links to the scheduler or messaging app you already use. Q: Does it work with WhatsApp? A: Yes. Any URL works, including WhatsApp click-to-chat links. Q: Does it use my brand kit? A: Yes. Brand defaults are applied to booking pages. ### Brand kit URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/brand-kit Category: Brand & growth The Lessstack brand kit stores your logo URL, primary and secondary colors, and fonts once, and applies them as defaults to your bio, booking, review, and waitlist pages so everything looks consistent. Who it's for: - Small businesses with an established look - Creators who want every page to feel like theirs - Agencies and freelancers setting up pages quickly How it works: 1. Add your logo URL, colors, and fonts in the dashboard. 2. Create or open any public page. 3. Your brand defaults apply automatically; adjust per page if needed. FAQ: Q: Which pages use the brand kit? A: Bio, booking, review, and waitlist pages use brand kit defaults. Q: Can I export brand colors? A: Media kits offer downloadable brand colors as CSS or JSON. Q: Do I need a designer? A: No. You enter the values you already use. ### Press kit URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/media-kit Category: Brand & growth A Lessstack press kit (also called a media kit) is a public /m page that collects your logo, a short bio, social links, press asset links, and downloadable brand colors (CSS or JSON) in one shareable URL. Who it's for: - Creators pitching brand partnerships - Startups and shops handling press enquiries - Podcasters and speakers sharing assets with organisers How it works: 1. FAQ: Q: Can visitors download brand colors? A: Yes, as CSS or JSON. Q: Can I host files on Lessstack? A: Media kits link to press asset URLs you host elsewhere. Q: Does it include audience stats? A: Only what you write yourself; Lessstack does not pull social follower counts. ### Free downloads URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/lead-magnet Category: Brand & growth Lessstack free downloads (also called lead magnets) are public /l pages that give visitors a file download — a guide, checklist, or template — in exchange for their email, which is stored with your other contacts. Who it's for: - Creators and coaches building an email list - B2B freelancers offering a guide or template - Shops offering a lookbook, catalogue, or discount PDF How it works: 1. Create a lead magnet and add the HTTPS link to your file. 2. Share the /l page in posts, your bio page, or ads. 3. Visitors enter their email to get the download; emails appear in Contacts. FAQ: Q: Where is the file hosted? A: You provide an HTTPS link to a file hosted wherever you like. Q: Where do the emails go? A: They are stored like waitlist signups and appear in the deduped Contacts list. Q: Can I email these contacts? A: Yes — send them a newsletter from Lessstack, or download the list for another email tool. ### Referral links URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/referral-links Category: Brand & growth A Lessstack referral page is a public /a page that presents an affiliate or partner offer, optionally shows a referral code, and tracks how many people click through to the offer. Create a referral page with the offer link and optional code. 2. Share the /a link wherever you promote the offer. 3. See click-throughs in the dashboard. FAQ: Q: Does Lessstack pay out commissions? Q: How are clicks tracked? A: Clicks pass through a tracking redirect before reaching the offer. ### Phone mockups URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/phone-mockups Category: Brand & growth Lessstack phone mockups frame a mobile screenshot (PNG, JPG or WebP) in an iPhone-style device and give you a downloadable PNG, or capture a live website by pasting its address. Who it's for: - Anyone collecting emails from more than one page - Founders preparing a launch announcement - Creators moving subscribers into an email tool How it works: 1. Collect emails with a waitlist or lead magnet. 2. Open Contacts to see every email once, deduplicated. 3. Export to CSV or write a newsletter draft. FAQ: Q: Is this a full CRM? A: No. It is a simple aggregated email list, not a sales pipeline. Q: Are duplicates removed? A: Yes, the same email appears once. Q: Can I import contacts? A: Contacts currently come from Lessstack waitlists and lead magnets. ### Newsletter URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/newsletter Category: Business ops Lessstack newsletter drafts let you write a subject and HTML or text body in the same dashboard as your contacts, and send it to your list when it's ready. Limitations: Sending email must be enabled for delivery. Otherwise newsletters stay as drafts. Each send reaches up to 50 contacts; automations and segmentation are not supported. Who it's for: - Small businesses sending occasional updates - Founders sending a launch email to a waitlist - Creators who want drafts next to their contact list How it works: 1. Write a subject and body in the dashboard. 2. Review the recipients from Contacts. 3. Send it to your contacts, or download the list for another email tool. FAQ: Q: Does Lessstack send email? A: Yes. Q: Where do recipients come from? A: From your deduped Contacts list. ### Invoices URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/invoices Category: Business ops Lessstack invoices have line items and a public /i payment page where clients can pay by card through Stripe Checkout, or follow your payment instructions while you mark the invoice paid yourself. Who it's for: - Freelancers and consultants billing clients - Small shops taking custom orders - Service businesses that want a simple payment link How it works: 1. Create an invoice and add line items. 2. Send the client the /i payment link (or share it in their client portal). 3. Get paid by card through Stripe Checkout, or mark the invoice paid yourself. FAQ: Q: Can clients pay by card? A: Yes, through Stripe Checkout. Q: Can clients pay another way? A: Yes. Add payment instructions (like bank details) and mark the invoice paid yourself. Q: Is this accounting software? A: No. It covers invoices and payment links, not bookkeeping or tax filing. ### Client pages URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/client-portal Category: Business ops Lessstack client pages (a simple client portal) give each client one unlisted /c page that lists their invoices and the file links you share with them, so clients have one place to check. Limitations: Anyone with the client page URL can view it without signing in. Share it only with the intended client and do not use it for sensitive files. Who it's for: - Freelancers and small agencies - Consultants sharing deliverables - Service businesses with repeat clients How it works: 1. Create a client and add shared file links. 2. Invoices for that client appear automatically. 3. Send the client their /c link. FAQ: Q: Do clients need an account? A: No. The portal is a link you share with the client. Q: Can I upload files? A: Portals list file URLs you host elsewhere. Q: Is this project management? A: No. It is intentionally light: invoices and shared links. ### Post writer URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/post-composer Category: Social The Lessstack post writer (a social post composer) turns a product or topic into a few caption ideas with hashtags you can save as drafts; it uses ready-made templates, or AI when AI writing is switched on. Limitations: The post writer does not post to social networks for you; copy the caption into your app. Who it's for: - Small businesses posting about products - Creators who need a first draft quickly - Anyone who plans posts before scheduling them How it works: 1. Paste a product, offer, or topic. 2. Pick from the caption variants and hashtags. 3. Save the draft and queue it in the social scheduler. FAQ: Q: Does it post for me? A: No. It drafts captions; you copy them or queue them in the scheduler. Q: Does it use AI? A: Yes. If the AI is ever unavailable, it falls back to ready-made templates. Q: Which networks does it write for? A: Captions work for Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, and Facebook. ### Post planner URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/social-scheduler Category: Social The Lessstack post planner (an early social media scheduler) lets you queue posts by date, time, and channel, and when a post is due it is marked ready so you can copy and publish it yourself — it does not yet connect to social accounts or publish automatically. Limitations: Early version: it doesn't connect to your social accounts or post for you yet. When a post is due, it's marked ready for you to copy. Who it's for: - Small businesses that want a simple posting calendar - Creators planning a week of content - Solo operators who publish manually but want a simple plan How it works: 1. Write or paste a post (or bring one from the composer). 2. Choose the channel and date/time. 3. When it is due, the post is marked ready — copy it and publish on the network. FAQ: Q: Does Lessstack publish to my social accounts? A: Not yet. It doesn't connect to your social accounts yet; when a post is due, it's marked ready for you to publish yourself. Q: Which channels can I plan for? A: Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, and Facebook. Q: Is it a replacement for a full scheduler? A: Only if manual publishing is fine for you. If you need auto-publishing today, a dedicated scheduler is a better fit. ### To-reply list URL: https://www.lessstack.com/tools/reply-queue Category: Social The Lessstack to-reply list (a manual reply queue) is a list of comments and messages you need to answer — you add the source and a snippet, then mark each item open or done; it does not sync DMs or comments from social networks. Limitations: Manual entry only — not a live inbox or DM sync. Who it's for: - Small businesses answering customers on several networks - Creators keeping up with comments across networks - Anyone who forgets which messages still need an answer How it works: 1. Add an item with its source and a snippet of the message. 2. Work through open items and reply on the network. 3. Mark items done. FAQ: Q: Does it import my DMs? A: No. Items are added manually. Q: Why manual? A: Social account connection is not shipped yet; the queue keeps the workflow simple until then. ## Comparisons Feature-category comparisons only; no competitor prices or statistics. We make one of the tools below, and we say where the others are better. For a simple list of links, Linktree's free plan is still fine. Small businesses usually move away for one of three reasons: - They want email capture and analytics without paying monthly for them. - They want forms, a waitlist, a review page or a booking link on the same page and under the same brand. - They want a page they won't lose if a platform changes. #### Good picks by need - Lessstack if you want the bio page plus short links, QR codes, forms, waitlists and review requests in one place. - Carrd if you want a one-page site on your own domain at a low yearly price. - Bio.link or Beacons if you're a creator who mainly wants a link page with built-in extras. #### Should you switch at all? Stay on Linktree if: - your page is a handful of links and the free plan covers it; - you rely on its commerce features or integrations; - its brand recognition matters to your audience. Linktree's plans are Free, Starter, Pro and Premium. Prices vary by region, and removing Linktree branding is listed under Premium (linktr.ee/s/pricing, fetched 7 Oct 2026). Check that page for your region's price rather than trusting third-party numbers. Here's what users say in Linktree threads: > if you want pro features like a custom domain or analytics, you have to pay a monthly subscription, which sucks. Source: r/socialmedia, "Linktree alternatives?" (https://www.reddit.com/r/socialmedia/comments/1svenl4/linktree_alternatives/) > nobody comes back after the first click. you visit once, tap one link, leave forever. Source: r/socialmedia, "Are people moving away from Linktree after the price increase?" (https://www.reddit.com/r/socialmedia/comments/1rwa3h8/are_people_moving_away_from_linktree_after_the/) #### Why the capture point matters That last point matters more than price. A link page only pays off if it captures something: an email, a booking, a review, a form answer. If yours only forwards clicks, the most useful upgrade is a page that keeps the visitor, whichever tool you pick. #### What to look for (a 5-point checklist) 1. Capture. Can a visitor leave an email, answer a form or join a waitlist on the page, without a paid add-on? 2. Analytics you'll actually read. Clicks per link, plus where the clicks came from (UTM tags). 3. Portability. Can you export your contacts? Is the URL yours (a custom domain), or the platform's? 4. Connected tools. Does the bio page link to your own forms, QR codes and booking page, or to five other services? 5. Pricing model. Monthly, yearly or one-time? Do the features you need sit on the cheapest tier? On portability: Bento.me, a link-in-bio tool owned by Linktree, shut down on 13 February 2026. Bento URLs now redirect to Linktree's homepage (devbio.me; note that devbio.me sells a competing product). One former user on Hacker News: "after Linktree folded the app, I have been searching for an alternative" (news.ycombinator.com, 31 Aug 2026). Whatever you choose, keep a copy of your links and export your list regularly. #### 1. Lessstack: best if your link page needs to do things (forms, waitlist, reviews, QR) Disclosure: this is our product. Lessstack is a small-business toolbox. Your link-in-bio page (lessstack.com/p/yourname) lives next to short links with UTM tags, dynamic QR codes, forms, waitlists, review-request pages, a booking-link page, free downloads (lead magnets) and a brand kit that keeps them all on-brand. Signups from waitlists and free downloads land in one contacts list, which you can export as CSV. - Good for: cafés, salons, coaches, freelancers and small shops whose bio link should collect bookings, reviews or signups. - How it works: add a bio page → link it to a Lessstack form, waitlist or review page → print the dynamic QR code → see clicks, form responses, waitlist signups and review clicks on one overview. - Honest limits today: - no custom domain (pages live on lessstack.com); - no click tracking on the bio page itself (put Lessstack short links on it to count clicks); - no shop or checkout features; - QR codes download as PNG only. - Price: Free ($0), Starter ($3/month or $29/year) and Pro ($7/month or $59/year). Every tool is on every plan. #### 2. Carrd: best for a cheap one-page site on your own domain URL: https://carrd.co/pro Carrd builds simple one-page sites, billed yearly. Pro adds custom domains, forms (connected to email tools like Mailchimp, MailerLite or Kit), embeds and no branding. The cheaper "Pro Lite" tier removes branding but doesn't include custom domains (carrd.co/pro, fetched 7 Oct 2026; check that page for current prices). - Pick it if: you want a page that looks like a real website and are happy to wire up your own email tool. - Skip it if: you want built-in contacts, QR codes or review pages without connecting other services. #### 3. Bio.link: best for creators who want a site, posts and an email list in one plan URL: https://bio.link Bio.link offers one Pro plan. It includes custom domains, no branding, an email list, posts and an AI assistant (bio.link, fetched 7 Oct 2026; check their page for the current price). - Pick it if: you're a creator and like a single plan with a custom domain. - Skip it if: you need booking pages, review requests or invoices. #### 4. Beacons: best for creators monetising directly from the page URL: https://beacons.ai Beacons is built around creator income: a store, a media kit and email marketing. We couldn't load its pricing page reliably, so check beacons.ai for current plans and fees. One thread worth reading before you use its email features: "Do not use Beacons.ai for email marketing" (r/Emailmarketing). - Pick it if: selling digital products from your bio is the main goal. - Skip it if: you're a local business that needs bookings, reviews and QR codes more than a store. #### 5. Linktree Free (stay put): best if a link list is all you need Honestly, if you don't need capture or a custom domain, the free plan is fine. Put tracked short links (with UTM tags) on it so your analytics tool can see where traffic came from. #### 6. Your own website page: best long-term portability A /links page on your own domain (WordPress, Squarespace or Framer) can never be shut down by someone else. The trade-off is you build the forms, analytics and QR codes yourself. Copy your links. Write down every link and its order. 2. Export your subscribers, if you collected any. 3. Create short links with UTM tags for each destination (e.g. utm_source=instagram&utm_medium=bio) so you can compare old and new. 4. Rebuild the page, adding one capture element (email, waitlist, form or review button). 5. Swap the link in every bio: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, your email signature and printed QR codes. 6. Keep the old page live for a few weeks with a "we moved" link, if your plan allows it. Q: What's the best free Linktree alternative? A: If you only need links, Linktree Free itself is fine. If you need the page to capture emails or form answers, choose a tool that includes capture on the plan you'll actually use. Lessstack does, on the Free plan too (see its pricing page). Carrd does via Pro and your own email tool. Q: Is there a Linktree alternative with forms and a waitlist? A: Yes. Lessstack puts forms and waitlists next to the bio page, with signups in one contacts list. Carrd Pro supports forms connected to an email service. Q: Is there a Linktree alternative with a one-time payment? A: Carrd bills yearly (carrd.co/pro). We didn't find a well-known option with a true one-time price. A page on your own website is the closest thing. Q: What happened to Bento? A: Bento.me shut down on 13 Feb 2026 and its URLs redirect to Linktree (devbio.me, a competitor's write-up). If you were on Bento, rebuild your page and update every bio link. Q: Can I use my own domain with Lessstack? A: Not yet. Pages live on lessstack.com. If a custom domain is essential today, Carrd, Bio.link or a paid Linktree plan are better fits. Q: Does Lessstack track clicks on my bio page? A: The bio page itself doesn't count clicks. Use Lessstack short links on it, and each link's clicks show on your overview. We make one of these tools, and we say where the others are better. Bitly's free plan no longer suits most small businesses. It gives you 5 links and 2 QR codes a month, with no click analytics, no way to change a link's destination and no UTM builder (Bitly's own free-plan post, 16 Apr 2026). The main Bitly alternatives are Short.io (free custom domains), Lessstack (editable links and dynamic QR codes plus the pages they lead to), Rebrandly (branded links for teams), Dub (developers and affiliate programs) and TinyURL (quick, simple links). #### Good picks by need - Short.io if you need branded links on your own domain for free. - Lessstack if you want editable short links, UTM tags and dynamic QR codes alongside your bio page, forms and review page. - Bitly's paid plans if you need its scale, API and integrations. #### What Bitly's free plan includes now (official) Per Bitly's post from 16 April 2026 (bitly.com/blog/bitly-free-plan): Bitly Free | Short links | 5 per month QR codes | 2 per month Custom back-halves | 3 Clicks | Unlimited Click / scan analytics | Not on Free Edit destination (redirects) | Not on Free UTM builder | Not on Free The same post lists paid Core, Growth (adds a custom domain) and Premium plans. Check bitly.com/pages/pricing for current prices and billing terms. On QR codes, Bitly's help centre says its codes "never expire" and stop working only if you delete them (support.bitly.com). That's worth knowing, because the fear of a "QR code that stops working" is the top complaint across the category. #### Why small businesses look elsewhere Real reasons from users: > You can't redirect a link without a paid subscription. You can't contact customer service without a paid subscription. You can't pay a one-time fee for anything. Source: r/BiTLY, "Bit.free no more" (https://www.reddit.com/r/BiTLY/comments/1ip15yk/bitfree_no_more/) > I have bit.ly URLs printed on stickers and such that can't be changed. Source: r/assholedesign, early 2025 (https://www.reddit.com/r/assholedesign/comments/1ipdjmj/bitly_now_puts_advertising_into_your_already/) — About an ad page Bitly showed before redirecting. Reports conflict on whether it still appears: an r/BiTLY reply says the page no longer shows, while a later reply from u/ArtofStorytelling says "1 year later, it's still a thing". A since-removed r/BiTLY post (12 Aug 2025) described a QR code deactivated behind a paywall about two weeks after printing. That complaint was about qr-code-generator.com, which the poster called Bitly's project; it isn't bitly.com itself. The pattern: printed codes and links can't be reprinted cheaply. So the two things that matter most are (1) being able to edit where a link goes and (2) knowing what happens to your codes if you stop paying. #### What to look for 1. Editable destinations on the plan you'll use. This is the whole point of a dynamic QR code. 2. Click counts and UTM tags, so your analytics shows which flyer, post or bio worked. 3. A clear exit policy: what happens to live links and printed QR codes if you cancel? 4. A custom domain, if brand trust matters (e.g. go.yourshop.com). 5. Where the link sends people. Short links are only half the job. The page they land on (bio, form, review page) matters too. #### 1. Short.io: best free option for branded links on your own domain URL: https://short.io/pricing Short.io's free plan includes 5 custom domains, 1,000 branded links in total and 50,000 tracked clicks a month. Every plan includes custom domains and click analytics (short.io/pricing, fetched 7 Oct 2026). - Pick it if: a custom domain and analytics on a free plan are the priority. - Skip it if: you also want forms, a bio page or review requests in the same tool. #### 2. Lessstack: best if your links lead to your own pages (bio, forms, reviews) Disclosure: this is our product. Lessstack's short links (lessstack.com/s/your-slug) come with a built-in UTM builder, editable destinations and click counts. Every link can become a dynamic QR code, so you can change where a printed code points without reprinting. The links can point to Lessstack's own bio page, forms, waitlists, review-request page, booking-link page and lead-magnet downloads, all styled by one brand kit and reported on one overview. - Good for: restaurants (menu, review and booking QR codes), shops (packaging QR), coaches and freelancers (one bio, many tracked links). - How it works: create a short link → add UTM tags → download the QR as PNG → edit the destination any time → see clicks on the overview. - Honest limits today: - no custom domain (links are on lessstack.com); - QR codes are PNG only (no SVG yet); - scans count as clicks on the underlying link, so use one link per QR for separate counts; - no API or bulk import. - Price: Free ($0), Starter ($3/month or $29/year) and Pro ($7/month or $59/year). Every tool is on every plan. #### 3. Rebrandly: best for branded links with growing teams URL: https://www.rebrandly.com/pricing Rebrandly's entry Essentials plan is described as "better branding and analytics for creators and small businesses". The pricing page lists 250 links/month, 250 QR codes/month, 2 custom domains and 10 link-destination edits/month. Higher tiers add teammates, conversion tracking and more edits (rebrandly.com/pricing, fetched 7 Oct 2026). Check the page for current prices; they vary by billing term. - Pick it if: you want custom domains and expect to add teammates. - Watch out: the monthly cap on destination edits matters if you change printed QR codes often. #### 4. Dub: best for developers and partner/affiliate programs URL: https://dub.co/pricing Dub is a modern link platform with an API. It has grown into partner and affiliate programs, and link-only plans are listed separately on its pricing page (dub.co/pricing, fetched 7 Oct 2026). - Pick it if: you're technical or running a partner program. - Skip it if: you want the simplest possible setup. #### 5. TinyURL: best for quick, no-fuss short links URL: https://tinyurl.com A long-standing, simple shortener. Check tinyurl.com for current plans and limits. #### 6. Bitly (paid): best when you need scale, integrations and an API URL: https://bitly.com/pages/pricing If you send thousands of links, need deep analytics and integrations, or want a well-known enterprise vendor, Bitly's paid plans are a reasonable choice. Growth (per Bitly's April 2026 post) adds a custom domain. Side-by-side: | Lessstack | Bitly Free | Short.io Free | Rebrandly Essentials | Dub Edit destination | ✓ | — | ? | 10 edits/mo | ? Use a dynamic code on a plan that includes edits. On Bitly Free you can't change the destination. 2. One link per placement (menu, window sticker, flyer), so you know which one works. 3. Tag each link with UTMs (utm_source=flyer&utm_medium=print&utm_campaign=spring). 4. Read the cancellation policy before printing. If it isn't clear, print a static QR code pointing at a page on your own domain, and redirect from there. 5. Test the code on two phones after printing a proof. Q: Is there a free Bitly alternative with analytics? A: Yes. Short.io's free plan includes click analytics and custom domains (short.io/pricing). Lessstack includes click counts and UTM tags on every plan; Free includes 25 short links. Q: Can I edit a Bitly link on the free plan? A: No. Bitly's April 2026 post says redirects (changing a link's destination) aren't on Free. Q: How much does Bitly cost? A: Bitly has a Free plan plus paid Core, Growth and Premium plans (per its April 2026 post); Growth is the first tier with a custom domain. Prices change and depend on monthly or yearly billing, so check bitly.com/pages/pricing for current figures. Q: What does the Bitly free plan include? A: Per Bitly's 16 April 2026 post: 5 short links and 2 QR codes a month, 3 custom back-halves and unlimited clicks. Click analytics, editing a link's destination and the UTM builder are not on Free. Q: Bitly vs Ow.ly: what's the difference? A: Ow.ly is the link shortener built into Hootsuite, used mainly for links in posts you schedule there. Bitly is a standalone link and QR code platform. If you don't use Hootsuite and want editable links with QR codes, compare the standalone options on this page instead. Q: Who are Bitly's main competitors? A: For small businesses: Short.io, Rebrandly, Dub, TinyURL and Lessstack. Bitly also offers link-in-bio pages, so Linktree overlaps with it there. Q: Do Bitly QR codes expire? A: Bitly's help centre says its QR codes never expire unless you delete them. The 2025 "expired QR" stories mostly concern other QR generators, so check the specific vendor's terms. Q: What's the best Bitly alternative for restaurants? A: One that combines editable QR codes with the pages people land on: menu, review request and booking. That's the job Lessstack is built for. If you only need the codes and want your own domain, Short.io is a good choice. Q: Does Lessstack support custom domains? A: Not yet. Links use lessstack.com/s/…. If you need go.yourbrand.com, pick Short.io, Rebrandly or Bitly Growth. You can run all three from one workspace with one brand and one dashboard — and keep a dedicated scheduler only if you need availability management. #### Why the three-tool setup happens A bio page arrives first, because a social profile only allows one link. A shortener follows when you start printing links or adding UTM tags. A booking link comes when customers start asking for appointments. Each tool is reasonable on its own; together they mean three logins, three brand settings, and three places to check numbers. #### What to consolidate These jobs fit comfortably in one workspace: - Link-in-bio page — one public page with your links and brand colors - Short links — custom slugs with editable destinations and click counts - UTM tags — added to short links instead of a separate builder - QR codes — pointed at short links so they stay editable after printing - Booking page — one branded page that links to wherever you take bookings #### What to keep separate If you rely on availability management, calendar sync, or meeting routing, keep your scheduler. Lessstack's booking page links to it rather than replacing it. The goal is fewer tools doing overlapping jobs, not giving up a tool that does something unique for you. #### A migration checklist - List every link in your current bio page and recreate it in a Lessstack bio page. - Recreate your most-used short links with the same purpose (slugs may differ by domain). - Set up your brand kit once so the bio and booking pages match. - Create a booking page that links to your existing scheduler or WhatsApp. - Update social profile links and reprint QR codes that pointed to old short links. - Keep old links live until traffic moves over, then cancel what you no longer need. ### Dynamic QR codes for restaurants: menus, reviews, and specials URL: https://www.lessstack.com/blog/dynamic-qr-codes-for-restaurants Published: 2026-10-07 by Lessstack Updated: 2026-10-07 A dynamic QR code points to a short link instead of a fixed URL, so a restaurant can print table cards once and change the menu, specials, or review page behind them whenever it likes. #### Static vs dynamic QR codes A static QR code encodes the final URL directly. If the menu moves, the printed code is wrong. A dynamic QR code encodes a short link that redirects to the menu; you change the redirect, not the print. #### Four codes worth printing - Menu — on tables and the window; update it for seasonal menus. - Today's specials — point it at a different page each day. - Review request — on the receipt or bill folder, linking to a review page with your Google button. - Waitlist or bookings — at the door for busy nights. #### Printing tips Print codes large enough to scan from a seated position, leave a quiet margin around the code, and add a short call to action under it ("Scan for today's menu"). Test with a couple of different phones before printing in bulk. #### Measuring scans Because every scan passes through the short link, the link's click count tells you how often each code is used. Add UTM tags such as utm_source=table-card to tell table cards apart from window posters in your analytics. ### UTM links for small businesses: a simple naming system URL: https://www.lessstack.com/blog/utm-links-for-small-businesses Published: 2026-10-07 by Lessstack Updated: 2026-10-07 UTM parameters are tags added to a link so your analytics tool knows where a visit came from. A small business usually needs three — source, medium, and campaign — plus a consistent naming rule. #### The five UTM parameters - utm_source — where the click came from (instagram, newsletter, flyer) - utm_medium — the type of channel (social, email, print) - utm_campaign — the promotion (spring-sale, launch) - utm_content — optional, to tell two links in one post apart - utm_term — optional, mostly used for paid search keywords #### A naming rule that sticks Use lowercase, use hyphens instead of spaces, and write the allowed values down once. "Instagram", "instagram", and "IG" show up as three different sources in analytics, so the rule matters more than the exact words. #### Keep links short Long UTM links look messy in posts and print. Put the tags on a short link instead: the visitor sees a clean link, and the redirect adds the tags to the destination. #### Check the result After sharing, open your analytics tool's acquisition or campaign report and confirm the source, medium, and campaign appear as you named them. Fix typos early before data piles up under the wrong name. ### How to build a waitlist page for a launch URL: https://www.lessstack.com/blog/waitlist-page-for-a-launch Published: 2026-10-07 by Lessstack Updated: 2026-10-07 A launch waitlist page needs a clear promise, one email field, and a reason to sign up now. Share it everywhere you already have attention, then email the list on launch day. #### What goes on the page - A headline that says what is launching and for whom - One or two sentences on the main benefit - A single email field and button - An expected launch window, if you have one - Your branding, so the page matches your other channels #### Where to share it Add it to your link-in-bio page, pin it in social posts, put a QR code on packaging or at events, and mention it in any existing newsletter. Use UTM-tagged short links so you can see which channel brings signups. #### Before launch day Send a short confirmation or update so subscribers remember signing up. Export the list or check it in your contacts view, and draft the launch email in advance. #### On launch day Email the waitlist first, with a direct link to buy or book. Then update the waitlist page to point to the live product so late visitors are not stuck on a sign-up form. ### A simple review-request flow for small businesses URL: https://www.lessstack.com/blog/review-request-flow Published: 2026-10-07 by Lessstack Updated: 2026-10-07 The best review-request flow asks soon after a good experience, uses a short friendly message, and sends customers to one page that links directly to your review site. #### When to ask Ask shortly after the customer has received value: after delivery, after an appointment, or when they pay. The longer you wait, the less likely they are to follow through. #### What to say Keep it short and personal: thank them, say a review helps a small business, and include one link. Avoid offering rewards for reviews — many review platforms prohibit incentivised reviews. #### Where to send them Send one link to a review-request page with buttons for the platforms you care about, such as Google and Trustpilot. The customer makes one tap; you see which buttons get clicked. #### Channels - Message or email after the job - A QR code on receipts, packaging, or the counter - A link on your bio page ### Static vs dynamic QR codes: which one should you print? URL: https://www.lessstack.com/blog/static-vs-dynamic-qr-codes Published: 2026-10-23 by Lessstack Updated: 2026-10-23 A static QR code stores the final link in the pattern, so it never expires but can't be changed. A dynamic QR code stores a short link that redirects, so you can change the destination after printing and count scans, but it depends on the redirect service. #### How a static QR code works The phone reads the URL straight out of the pattern and opens it. There is no server in between, so the code works for as long as the page it points to exists. Nobody can switch it off, and nobody can count its scans. Static codes get denser as the link gets longer. A long URL with UTM tags produces a busy pattern that is harder to scan when printed small. #### How a dynamic QR code works The pattern holds a short link, such as lessstack.com/s/menu. When someone scans it, the short-link service redirects them to the current destination. Change the destination and every printed copy follows. Because every scan passes through the redirect, the service can count scans and add UTM tags. The pattern stays small and easy to scan however long the destination URL is. #### Side by side - Change the destination after printing: static no, dynamic yes. - Count scans: static no, dynamic yes. - Works without any service: static yes, dynamic no (it needs the redirect). - Pattern size with long URLs: static gets dense, dynamic stays small. - Typical cost: static free, dynamic free or paid depending on the vendor and volume. #### When to use which Use static for things that will never change: Wi-Fi login details, a contact card, a permanent page on your own domain. Use dynamic for anything printed in bulk or for a long time: menus, packaging, posters, receipts, business cards. A reprint costs far more than the link. #### The one risk with dynamic codes If the redirect stops, the printed code stops. That happens when a vendor deactivates codes after a trial ends or a subscription lapses. Before printing in bulk, read what your vendor does with links on its free plan and after you cancel. A belt-and-braces option: print a static code pointing at a page on your own domain (yourshop.com/menu), and redirect that page wherever you like from your own website. ### QR code not working? 7 common causes and how to fix them URL: https://www.lessstack.com/blog/qr-code-not-working Published: 2026-10-23 by Lessstack Updated: 2026-10-23 Most QR codes that stop working fall into two groups. Either the link behind the code broke (an expired dynamic code or a moved page), or the print can't be read (too small, low contrast, no margin, damaged). Scan it with a second phone to tell which one you have. #### First: is it the link or the print? Scan the code with your phone camera. If the phone shows a link but the page fails or shows an error or upgrade screen, the link is the problem. If the phone shows nothing at all, the print is the problem. #### Link problems - The dynamic code expired. Some QR generators deactivate codes when a trial or subscription ends. Fix: reactivate the plan or reprint with a code from a service whose free plan keeps codes live. - The page moved or was deleted. A static code still points at the old URL. Fix: redirect the old URL on your website, or reprint. Use a dynamic code next time. - The short link was deleted or edited by mistake. Fix: restore the destination in your link dashboard. The printed code works again straight away. #### Print problems - Too small. Rule of thumb: the code's width should be about one tenth of the scanning distance, and at least 2 cm for close-up use. - Low contrast or inverted colours. Dark modules on a light background scan best. Light-on-dark codes fail on some older scanner apps. - No quiet zone. The blank margin around the code is part of the code. Don't crop it or print right up to a border. - Damaged, curved or glossy. Creases, wrapping around a bottle, or glare from lamination can all break a scan. Raise the error correction level or print the code flat and larger. #### How to stop it happening again Use a dynamic code so you can fix the destination without reprinting, from a vendor with a clear exit policy. Print a proof and test it on two phones in the light where it will hang. Use one link per placement so you can see which code stops getting scans. ### How to use UTM parameters with Google Analytics 4 URL: https://www.lessstack.com/blog/utm-parameters-google-analytics-4 Published: 2026-10-23 by Lessstack Updated: 2026-10-23 GA4 reads utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign from the landing URL and shows them as session source, medium and campaign in the Traffic acquisition report. The medium decides the default channel, so pick mediums GA4 recognises or expect Unassigned traffic. #### Where UTM visits appear in GA4 Open Reports, then Acquisition, then Traffic acquisition. The default table groups sessions by channel. Change the primary dimension to Session source / medium or Session campaign to see your tags exactly as you wrote them. Visits appear in the Realtime report within seconds, which makes it the quickest way to test a new link: click it yourself and look for your source. #### How utm_medium decides the channel GA4 sorts sessions into default channels using mostly the medium: - email (or e-mail) → Email - social, social-network, social-media or sm → Organic Social - cpc or ppc together with a search source → Paid Search - referral → Referral - affiliate → Affiliates - anything it doesn't recognise, such as print, qr or flyer → Unassigned #### Fixing Unassigned traffic from QR codes and print Unassigned isn't lost data. The sessions still carry your source and campaign. You have two options. Use a recognised medium (for example utm_medium=referral with utm_source=flyer). Or keep a clear medium like qr and add a custom channel group in GA4 under Admin, then Data display, then Channel groups. #### A naming system that survives - Lowercase everything. GA4 treats Instagram and instagram as different sources. - Hyphens, not spaces: spring-sale, not Spring Sale. - Source is the place, medium is the type, campaign is the reason. - Keep a shared list of allowed values and reuse it. - Never tag internal links on your own site. It starts a new session and overwrites the real source. #### Keep tagged links short A fully tagged URL is long and ugly in a caption or on print. Put the tags on a short link: the redirect adds them on the way through, and you can correct a typo after the link is out. ### Dynamic QR codes on receipts: reviews, reorders and sign-ups URL: https://www.lessstack.com/blog/dynamic-qr-codes-on-receipts Published: 2026-10-23 by Lessstack Updated: 2026-10-23 A receipt is read by every paying customer, right after a purchase. A dynamic QR code on it can ask for a review, offer a reorder or collect an email. Because it is dynamic, you can change the offer without changing the receipt template. #### Why receipts are a good spot Every customer gets one, it arrives when they are happiest with you, and it often stays in a bag or wallet for days. Most receipt templates also have room at the bottom that goes unused. #### What to link to - A review-request page with buttons for Google and other review sites - A reorder or booking page for repeat customers - A newsletter or loyalty sign-up form - A survey about the visit - This month's offer, which you change every month without touching the template #### Why it should be dynamic Receipt templates are a pain to change in most point-of-sale systems, and thermal printers lose detail on dense codes. A dynamic code stays small and simple to print, and you change the destination in your link dashboard instead of the till. #### Printing on thermal paper Keep the code at least 2.5 cm wide, use the highest contrast setting, and leave a clear margin. Add one line of text such as "Scan to leave a review". Test a real printed receipt, not the preview on screen. #### Measuring it Tag the short link with utm_source=receipt and utm_medium=qr so the visits are labelled in your analytics, and watch the link's click count. Use separate links for in-store and emailed receipts if you want to compare them.
